Archaeological Building Research into the Pre-Columbian Site of Sechin Bajo, Casma, Peru  (2003 – 2012)

Project

The research project has been taking place since 2003 under the direction of Dr Peter Fuchs from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). Project objectives include investigating the developmental conditions of the monumental building complex in Casma Valley, clarifying the site’s original purpose, defining construction phases, obtaining precise measurements, and dating.

  1. Developing restoration and consolidation procedures for the clay architectural findings from the Sechín Bajo excavation
  2. Results and information about the ancient techniques used in the craftsmanship and workmanship are expected from the restoration-conservation investigations, as well as the development of preservation methods.
